It’s difficult to hear the term, “Begin Again”, because universally it means to start over.
We tend to allow hardships to keep us off focus on the task ahead. No one likes starting over, except when it’s essentially, required. There a several reasons why people start over. One reason may result from divorce, whereas the ex-spouse had to find a new home and replenish their new home, (which can be difficult if you’re still heartbroken about the divorce). Some other reasons for why people may have to start over could be from making wrong decisions in life or having to downsize, financially. Also, being laid off work for several months or years may create a space for change as well. I could go on and on but I know there are several scenarios of why people have to “begin again”. More specifically, I want to focus on how “starting over” is really a matter of TRUSTING GOD in every area of your life.
I’d like to share information about myself concerning the topic “Begin Again”. All those who don’t know by now, I’m currently divorced and have been for over one year. I had to start over, again, but not the conventional ways as listed before. My “start again” was placing my TRUST in GOD. I had experienced a limited source of income and I needed to know how I was going to pay ALL my bills.
After my divorce I thought my life would become topsy-turvy, but God! Even though my life has changed from being married-to-single, I had to jumpstart things on my own. For instance, managing my bills and thinking of ways to accumulate multiply strings of income became new motivations.
Since 2008, I’ve always worked as a contractor for different companies and during that time the duration for each company would be at least six months to a year based off the company’s’ need. There were times I didn’t work for about two or more months and went without money. But God!
See, by me “starting again,” I was learning to place my faith in Him; to TRUST HIM. And every time that I place my trust in God, He has always provided for me. That’s right! He took care of every last one of my needs. As the Word of God Says, “But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” Phil 4:19.
In the meantime, everything is going smooth no issues or problems. The bills are being paid on time and I’m dancing and praising God every day. Everyday I’m believing God for a permanent job and still being thankful of what I do have instead of thinking what I don’t.
Have you every experience this, whereas you’re always praising, worshipping, and constantly in prayer with God, and then all of sudden a whirlwind will enter into your life without warning? That’s what happened to me. All of sudden, my assignment ended with this company. Normally I would just pray and place it in God’s hands, concerning the situation; but something happened before my assignment ended. Let’s go back prior before I was laid off work.
Have the Lord ever told you what he was going to do in your life and while anticipating for it to happen at a certain time and it doesn’t? Now, you’re disappointed with God again. What are you thinking at this very moment because you thought your situation would have turned for the better not worst. Now, the Holy Spirit decides not to speak to you either. Your friends calling trying to encourage you but no one have a Word from the Lord concerning your life.
Therefore, you’re trying to maintain your composure and one night the Lord asked you to read the book of “Job”. I’m going to paraphrase most of what I read from the Book of Job:
Job was a man who feared God, he was a great servant for the Lord. He always gave burnt sacrifice to the Lord concerning his children every morning. Job was a blessed man of God and always honoring the Lord. God was pleased by Job and Satan mention, because you always protect him and his family. Job didn’t know Satan and God was having a conversation about him but God knew Job would pass the test. All of a sudden, Job lost everything, including his kids, home, and cattle. Even his health started to deteriorating and Job curse the day he was born. His friends came from a far, only to make him think he had done something wrong and that’s why God curse him (NOT TRUE!!).
Even though Job was angry with the Lord and questioned him about what was going on with his life, in the end, God blessed Job with double for his trouble and beauty for his ashes.
Please read the entire Book of Job.
I could relate to Job, but I lost my faith and trust in God. I was behind two months on rent and did not see any changes. I had so-called “friends” tell me to move out of my luxury, upscale apartment and downsize. I kept saying, “why would God tell me to move if he was the one to give me this luxury/upscale apartment from the beginning”. Well, the truth be told, I ended up listening to those people and I moved out of fear of losing my place and didn’t want someone placing my things on the streets.
I moved somewhere I shouldn’t and I felt like I just check into the “Bates Motel”. The same people who told me to moved are no longer in my circle. It’s funny how I moved and they left out of my life too. The trick of the enemy! I cried several nights because I allowed people to move me from my usual place of just TRUSTING GOD for myself. For our own good, it’s needed for one to STAND on God’s Word even, if you don’t see change!
Don’t let friends or anyone to tell you to do something differently, unless God has spoken to you about it. This time, I refused to allow anyone to change my mindset and I started to confess my faith scriptures everyday to build my faith in God again.
In conclusion, this message is for people who have encountered similar experiences of what I went through. Sometimes the road seems dark and you don’t know what’s going to happen next. This may happen often, but reflecting on God’s goodness through the good and bad times, will help you to TRUST HIM no matter the situation!
I had to remind myself of the times He was always there for me. Why would God leave you now? I learned that God is Sovereign.
The Word of God says, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” 1 Peter 5:7.
Even if you have to “Begin Again”, continue to thank God and repent for not trusting Him. He is faithful, awesome, mighty and a loving God. He has our best interest in heart. I have completed a list of faith scriptures below. It’s never too late to believe in God again. He is waiting.
Please speak these scriptures every day. Even twice a day! Live by Faith!
Faith begin with knowing the Will of God– 1 John 5:14-15 “And we can be confident that he will listen to us whenever we ask him for anything in line with his will. And if we know he is listening when me make our requests, we can be sure that he will give us what we ask for”.
You already have the capacity for faith– Romans 12:3- As God’s messenger, I give each of you this warning: Be honest in your estimate of yourselves, measuring your value by how much faith God has given you.
You must know the importance of Faith– Romans 1:17- This Good News tells us how God makes us righ tin his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life”.
Your thinking about God must be right. You must be convinced of God’s goodness. John 10:10- The thief’s purpose is to steal, kill, and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness.
We must want Jesus more than the things we want from God. John 15:7- But if you stay joined to me and my words remain in you, you may ask any request you like, and it will be granted!
You must have hope in order to have faith. Hebrew 11:1- What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see.
Hopelessness is the problem. Ephesians 2:12- In those days you were living apart from Christ. You were excluded from God’s people, Israel, and you did not know the promises God had made to them. You lived in this world without God and without hope.
The promises give you Hope! 2 Peter 1:3-4- As we know Jesus better, his divine power gives us everything we need for living a godly life. He has called us to receive his own glory and goodness. And by that same mighty power, he has given us all of his rich and wonderful promises. He has promised that you will escape the decadence all around you caused by evil desires and that you will share in his divine nature.
You must know what you are in Christ. 2 Cor 5:17- What this means is that those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun!
You must know what belongs to you in Christ. Romans 8:32- Since God did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t God, who gave us Christ, also give us everything else?
***You must realize there is a difference between faith and believing****
Persistence all the time! Even when it doesn’t look like things are changing. Hebrew 11:6- So, you see, it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
According to your Faith! Matthew 9:28-29- “They went right into the house where he was staying, and Jesus asked them, “Do you believe I can make you see?” “Yes, Lord, “they told him, “we do”. Then he touched their eyes and said, “Because of your faith, it will happen.
You can limit what God can do for you! Mark 6:3- He’s just the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon. And his sisters live right here among us. They were deeply offended and refused to believe in him.
Faith does not doubt and Faith believes it receives. Mark 11:23-24- I assure you that you can say to this mountain, “May God lift you up and throw you into the sea, and your command will be obeyed. All that’s required is that you really believe and do not doubt in your heart. Listen to me! You can pray for anything, and if you believe, you will have it!
Faith involves persistence. It does not quit or give up! Luke 18:5- but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!
Faith Never Wavers. James 1:6- But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to answer, for a doubtful mind is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.
Faith involves holding on to our confession. Hebrew 10:23- Without wavering, let us hold tightly to the hope we say we have, for God can be trusted to keep his promises.
Faith realize that there will be a test! Luke 22:31-32- Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to have all of you, to sift you like wheat. But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen and build up your brothers.
Faith does not get weary! Galatians 6:9- So don’t get tired of doing what is good. Don’t get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time.
Faith give God thanks everyday! Keep your expectation!!!
As always, Jesus Loves you and so do I.
