Living in a hectic environment can be frustrating and stressful at times. That’s why I believe in embracing a healthy lifestyle and incorporating daily exercise into my routine. I conducted a survey on reasons why people go to the gym. Surprisingly, 90% of people that go to the gym are trying to relieve stress. Only 10% of survey participant’s focus was for maintaining their health. On average, I exercise 4 to 6 days a week. If I’m consistent, I exercise for 6 straight days of the week. I include myself in the 90% results as wells go to the gym because I want to look good. I love the way I feel after a work out and as a bonus, I have the opportunity of meeting some great people at the gym as well. I mostly jog about 3 to 4 miles a day. Granted, I did not start out jogging. I mostly walked on the treadmill, rode the bike, and climbed the stair master. The stair master was very challenging at first; I began only being able to complete 5 minutes intervals and eventually worked myself to 60 minutes. I even began to do weight lifting, starting off only being able to consistently lift 10lbs and progressed to 55lbs to date. It wasn’t an easy task at first but I continued until I saw results. It took time but I was willing to try and push myself. I now know what to expect when I go to the gym. I know which specific equipment to use to gain the results I desire and which ones would be a challenge for me.
However, one day, rather than performing my usual workout routine at the gym, I decided I wanted to exercise outdoors. My friend and I headed to the park to walk the trail and I was excited. I just knew this was going to be a “piece of cake”. We decided to do a combination of walking and jogging for 4 miles. As we started out walking, I could feel the fresh air blowing on me and I felt great. Then we switched to jogging and before I knew it I was out of breathe in no time flat. I had to stop several times to catch my breath. I asked myself, “What happen to me? I guess I wasn’t as in shape as I thought”. The trail at the park had curves and hills going up, down and around. I wasn’t used to jogging up a hill or going around a curve, which caused me to lose momentum. I continued to walk/jog but I felted defeated because I though for sure I was going to conquer this challenge. When we left I was drained and tired. I was sweating like a pig at a campfire about to get roasted over the fire. I couldn’t believe I was defeated. I ponder about it considerable throughout the night and thought I will give it another try the next day. This time I will be ready to take control of my environment.
The next day I was at the track again thinking about how I felt the first time I walked/jogged and mentally prepared myself for what to expect. As we started walking, the wind was blowing and mentally I was in “power mode”. I knew ahead of time when I was approaching a curve, going up, down or around a hill and was prepared with what to do next. I was well equipped this time for the challenge and I succeeded, but as I kept walking the Holy Spirit start talking about how people don’t know how to take control of their environment. That’s a true statement! Many times we don’t have the foresight to learn a new environment whether it’s a new job, home, school, business, etc. Ultimately, allowing the environment to take control over our lives resulting in a defeated spirit entering our atmosphere.
Here are suggestions on ways to take control of your environment:
- Learn your environment.
- A. On the job, learn your colleague’s different personalities, characteristics and triggers so you know how to direct your prayers concerning which spirits to cast out of the office/warehouse.
- B. If you are a “domestic engineer” (stay at home mom/wife), observe your spouse or children habits. Start paying attention to them everyday and find out what spirit is operating in them. Also, current relationships, whether dating or friendships, are also included in this principle. It’s never too late to assist a potential life mate before feelings and commitments become invested.
- C. If you are an entrepreneur learn your clients. Take time to get to know them. You may see where prayer is needed in their lives.
- D. Visit your kid’s schools for yourself to determine how to cover the institution with prayer. It’s always wise to get to know your child/children teachers, advisors and principle. Know what type of people are in your child/children academic environment.
- E. If you are the one that needs prayer, I suggest you seek God during your prayer time. Don’t feel ashamed or embarrassed because we all need to get rid of spirits that are not of Christ. Remember, God seeks to have a transparent, no holds bar relationship with you, His beloved.
- Once you have learned your environment, now its time to control it.
- A. Take action in the spirit realm and set the atmosphere. You have the power and authority to control your environment.
- B. Learn to command your morning every day before you start your day.
- C. Arrange your day to get up early in the morning or if you’re already up, clear you day with a “commanding your morning prayer”.
In the meanwhile, I need you to prepare yourself for change to appear. Please note this is not a one time prayer. If you don’t see a change within a week, please don’t give up. It’s just like someone gaining weight and trying to lose the weight within a week forgetting it took them more than a week to gain the weight to begin with. It is a process. Even if you don’t see change right away, trust me, when you least expect it everything you are praying for will manifest.
I have provided several scriptures of the Word of God that speaks about the blessings associated with giving God the first of our day:.
“Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.” Psalm 5:2-3 NIV
“Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. I will praise you, Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.” Psalm 57:8-9
“The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.” Isaiah 50:4
“You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.” Psalm 63:1-2
Prayer for Your Job
Father, I come boldly before Your throne of grace lifting up my job before You.
Father, firstly I give You thanksgiving and praise for blessing me with my job, and for the income in which You provided for me through this job.
I pray for the right atmosphere upon my job. I pray that You would saturate the atmosphere with Your spirit, your peace and your anointing. May the power of Your spirit and Your anointing cause every evil and demonic spirit to be loosed from every man, woman, or child that comes in my working environment, leaving them in a spirit of calmness, kindness, gentleness and peace. May You also cause conviction to fall upon all those that would use profanity, vain words or ungodly language in my area.
When I am faced with challenging issues, trials, pressures, stressful or difficult people at work, help me to not react or respond in the flesh, but help me to remain calm, rest, walk and operate in the Spirit, and in Your peace, the peace that passes all understanding.
I pray that You would bless me with a good working relationships with all those in whom I work with. May You bless us to work together in unity and may there be no division or strife among us.
As I go each day upon my job, I pray that You would help me to let the light of Jesus Christ shine so much through my life that others around me may see the light of Christ and glorify You.
Father, help me to let my light shine in my witness. Help me not to compromised or get involved in ungodly jokes, conversations or anything that would be a reproach upon You, my church, or my life as a Christian. Help me to display the truth, integrity, righteousness, peace and love of God in all I say and do thereby being an example and a reflection of Christ to all those around me.
I pray that You would give me open doors of opportunity to share the Gospel to those around me on my job. As You open doors for me to share Christ, I pray that You would put the right scriptures, illustrations and examples on my lips to effectively convey the Gospel of Christ to them and win them over to You.
I pray that You would also help me to be a witness with my work. May You continue to anoint my mind and the works of my hands. Help me to perform my duties expediently, skillfully and accurately. And as Joseph’s work became a testimony to Pharaoh of the Spirit of God within him, I pray that You would likewise bless my work to become a testimony unto You, and Your spirit working in and through me.
Father, as You have Joseph favor in each of his jobs and assignments I pray that You would also give me favor. May You give me favor with my supervisor(s), department heads, and management. May You cause them to take note of and become well pleased with my work, attitude, and commitment. As a result, cause me to become their first choice for promotions, advancement and good job assignments. I decree by the authority of Your Word that no one shall be able to stop, hinder or delay these, or any other blessings You have for me concerning my job. For Your Word says that promotion does not come from man, but promotion comes from You.
I pray that You would help me guard my mouth and not join in others that would gossip, backbite or talk about the supervisors, directors, or any part of management. I bind these spirits from my life and from the lives of others that work around me, by the authority of the Name of Jesus Christ.
I lift up my supervisor(s) and all those in authority in our workplace for You have instructed me to pray for them. I pray therefore, that You would give them the wisdom of God in how to operate, orchestrate and manage their areas, departments and personnel. May You bless the works of their hands and give them Your instructions, directions, and understanding so that their areas and departments may prosper and flow decently and in order. I pray that You would also bless their personal lives, spiritually physically, and financially. And, may You bring them, as well as my other colleagues to the salvation of the Lord.
Now Father, I commit my work and my workplace to You, Your care and Your direction. As I have prayed Your Word concerning my job, may You watch over Your Word to perform it. And may You bring to pass each and everything I have prayed for and committed to You concerning my job and workplace. In the Name of Jesus Christ, I pray, AMEN!
